In my late teens and early 20s, I suffered from debilitating back problems. Those were the days when I had more brawn than brains. I participated in a lot of sports, especially gymnastics, without a lot of regard for physical safety.  I took a lot of risks, sustained a lot of injuries and finally paid the price. By age 22, my body already felt broken down and beat up. I had suffered moderate back and neck pain constantly with occasional bouts of severe pain that would send me bedridden for days. One day when I was at work, my boss noticed that I was walking with my neck bent to one side and I was slightly hunched over. He said, “you need to see my chiropractor; he can help you with your problem.” I said, “what problem?” He said, “I’ve seen you hunched over for the last few days and you need to do something about it!” Well, I didn’t like going to doctors and I was certain chiropractors were quacks. So, just to get him off my back, I reluctantly went to see his chiropractor.

The first adjustment relieved my pain by 50% and 6 adjustments later, I was completely pain-free and moving normally. I knew then that I wanted to do that for other people. I graduated from chiropractic school in 1989 and have not looked back since.
